Ella's new headboard

We wanted to make a headboard for Ella's room which Ben agreed to quickly because he was able to get a new tool! Ben cut out the butterfly and the wood it is attached to. Then we covered the butterfly and stained the wood. Here is the finished product. We really like how it turned out and love how her room now looks. I did tell Ben that his next project is to make some really cute night stands!

WIll and Ella

Now that Will is 4 months old and Ella's 2nd birthday was almost 4 months ago we finally went and got pictures taken of them! Here are some we liked the most. We don't get them back until the 18th...but after that we will send them out. I was amazed that we even got Ella smiling at all. She doesn't like even looking at the person taking the picture and if you tell her to smile she smiles but closes her eyes...so I was very impressed at the pictures the lady was able to get!

We made gingerbread houses with some friends tonight and it turned into a competition! So I need people to vote on their favorite one...and you better pick ours (but I can't tell you which one it is until after the voting)!

Here are a few more pictures that my mom took and sent to me from their visit. I was so excited that my mom got ella smiling in one of them. When she says cheese she normally closes her eyes and squeezes her face together. Then when you tell her to open her eyes she losses the smile!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch with my parents as well. It was so cold that day that I can't really say that we enjoyed it all the much! Ella seemed ready to leave the whole time...but she did pick out a pumpkin and come home and painted it with her daddy...lost those pictures!

Ella's Birthday

We had a few friends over and celebrated while my parents were still in town. Ella had so much fun and loved all her toys. She was most excited about the princess castle kitchen (great garage sale find!). We had cake and she was so excited to blow out the candles. She had me put a candle in her piece of cake so we could light it and blow it out a few times. She probably would have kept having me light it but the last time after she blew it out she touched the top of the candle and it was still hot so that fun game ended! The next couple of weeks after her birthday she kept on wanting to have her friends over for pizza and cake so we could do it all over again. By the time Ben had his birthday in November she had finally decided it was in fact his birthday and not hers anymore. Let me add one other Ella story to this one. A few weeks after Hallowleen Ella finished her candy and looked at me with her Halloween bag and asked to go to the neighbors houses again to trick or treat. I had to help her understand that we can only do that once a year. So instead she went trick or treating to our pantry! I love how little kids think!

William's baby blessing

Will was blessed when my parents were out here in October. We took a lot of pictures and put them on the computer and erased them on the camera. Both Ben and I thought about saving the pictures on our thumb drive and didn't do it on time. We shut down the computer not knowing it would never turn on again! The blessing pictures and Ella's birthday pictures were all gone in a flash. We paid someone and thought we had the pictures back and then when we checked they were not there. The guy is still trying to see if he can get them off the old computer but we will see. At least we have some pictures...thanks mom!

Magic House

We went to the Magic House out here a couple of weeks ago. I had seen a comercial and it is free once a month so we went to check it out. It was so amazing. We were there for a few hours and didn't even get to see everything. Ella loved it. When we were in the play grocery store she had so much fun filling up her cart and when it was time to be done she kept taking it all with her while looking at me saying, "Ella's." She didn't want to leave it so I had to take her to a new area while she cried but was quickly distracted by another activity. They have a mock up of the oval office and she sat at the desk on the phone for a while. She was so cute sitting there on the phone being the president! She also loved the water table and could have stayed there all day. It will be even more fun for her in another year and we will have to get a family membership there.

Ella loves to help her brother. She likes to include him when she plays. So one day when I was cleaning I looked over and she had piled toys on him in the swing. What a sweet sister she is!

So we have been bad about getting more pictures up...partly because we have had computer problems and lost pictures from Will's baby blessing and Ella's birthday. Ella's rough week!

So 2 weeks ago Ella had 2 unfortunate days in a row. First she walked right next to a girl we were babysitting who was playing the Wii. The next thing you know she gets whacked in the eye. It was a little black eye by the next day. Then that next day she was running in the play room and being the highly coordinated 21 month old that she is, she tripped on the carpet and hit her lip in the toy table. It was a nice fat lip. We tried getting some good photos and she must have known we were trying to capture her misery with the faces she made (she was not sad or in pain even though that is the face she made!).

Ella loves to dance. I got a little bit on video, but it is much cuter in person. She squats at times and moves her arms up and down or bends foward and shakes her head. SO here is a little video of her, Payton and Krew.

Toy table/Ben's craftiness

Ben and I had gone to a garage sale and wanted to buy a train table that we saw...however we only have small cars and knew we couldn't fit it in our car. Ben then decided that he wanted to build one instead. It turned out nice and Elizabeth loves to play on it. I love the storage and being able to shove the toys underneath. We used chalkboard paint on the top, but I am not ready for Elizabeth to know about that! Here are some pictures.

Easter

So last Saturday we went to a Easter Egg Hunt near our house. Elizabeth was sad for a little bit because they made the kids wait so long and just stare at the eggs! Then the bell went and 30 seconds later she had 5 eggs and we headed home. The easter bunny brought her a bottle and a juice cup for her baby dolls and she knew what to do right away. She was also able to go outside and find lots of eggs hiding on the grass. She tried her first peeps and only ate a little bit. The hollow chocolate bunny has been her favorite treat and she loves it!

The Beach

While in California we were able to go to the beach one day. We went with Kim, Kaitlyn, Kelby and Mitchell. I was glad that they wanted to go with us. It was fun spending time with them. Elizabeth loved the water. Every time a wave came up and the water hit her she would fall on her bum. She would just sit there and smile most the time. The water was a bit cold but the weather was very nice that day. She also liked playing football with Mitchell and her dad. She would get the football walk really close to her dad or Mitchell and then throw it to them. Eizabeth loved the sand and did eat a couple of handfuls of it! It was such a nice enjoyable day!

Christmas Eve

We were able to go to California to celebrate Christmas with my family this year. It was a lot of fun. On Christmas Eve we all got together at my sister's (Jana's) house. It was a lot of people! Elizabeth seemed a little overwhelmed by it all at first. She finally warmed up when all the grand kids were sitting down while a few of them showed their talents by playing on the piano. Elizabeth tried to steal the show by dancing whenever the piano was being played. She made all the kids laugh as she danced and clapped in excitement. She enjoyed unwrapping her gifts, but wanted to play with everyone else's toys!

Mission Inn Christmas Lights

While in Hemet for Christmas we went to the Mission Inn in Riverside with most of our family who lives down there. It was fun just spending time with family and looking at the lights. Elizabeth loved the lights and kept pointing and grunting! She had fun watching everyone.

Wild Animal Park

I guess it is time for me to start blogging about our trip to California and Utah. While in Ca we went to the Wild Animal Park with my sister Nikki and her family. It was a lot of fun. I think that Elizabeth's favorite part was the petting zoo. She was definitely not afraid of the animals. She would walk right up to them and touch them. We had to stop her from pulling on them or pushing them too hard. Elizabeth also went on the merry-go-round for the first time. She was excited to first get on but it took forever for it to get moving so she was crying and trying to get us to take her off. We wer able to get her to stay on it long enough that once it got started she loved it and smiled the whole time. We loved being able to spend time with Nikki and her family. We forgot to bring our camera so here are some of the pictures that my sister took and sent to me.

Grandma Romeril

My Grandma Romeril passed away this week. As I read my mom's and brother's blogs about her it made me both happy and sad. Happy that I had such a wonderful Grandma and sad that I did not get to know her better. We only went to Canada a few times and I was young. I was looking though my pictures and I found a few from a trip to Canada, but none with my Grandma in it. I do remember driving from California to Canada with my Grandma, uncles and aunt one summer. I was able to go by myself up there and see our family for about a week. I found a picture of my Grandma and Grandpa that I just love. They look so happy. I want to remember her with that beautiful smile.
This has also made me realize how important it will be for me to make sure that my children know their grandparents even though we live far away. I want my kids to have memories of their grandparents to carry with them their whole life. I guess that means I will have the camera out a lot more as well on our next trip to see them.

Adventures of hat making

So about a week ago I realized that I probably needed to buy a hat for Elizabeth since it is so cold. Then I just decided since I have yarn I should just make one. Well, now I have made 4 of them. I just learned how to make flowers and I have put flowers on the lat 2 that I made. So it has been fun and has filled my days!

Our friends, Daniele and Trent, had us and a few other people over for a night of gingerbread house making. It was at the perfect time because Elizabeth was tired and went to bed at their house so we were able to have a fun night without interruptions from her (maybe next year she can help)! It was a lot of fun as both Ben and I really were doing this for the first time ever (as far as we remember). Here are pictures of everyone's work.

Elizabeth was a cute little witch for Halloween (I think Emily passed on the costume...Elizabeth was too big for the princess one Lisa had given us). She was so good about wearing the costume and left the hat on without any problems. We went to the ward trunk or treat last night and tonight we just walked across the street and visited with neighbors. Elizabeth got some M&M's from there and was very happy!

Eating pudding with a spoon

So we went to the doctor on Thursday and we were talking about when to have your child start eating with a spoon. She suggesting starting out with pudding since it sticks to the spoon. So of course I had to try it out that same day. She did exceptionally well and got it in her month most of the time. Elizabeth loves playing with her friend Krew. They are in our ward and live down the street from us and have play dates all the time. We had a play group yesterday at our house with a few others as well. I unfortunately only got pictures of Krew and Elizabeth. They had so much fun.

Elizabeth had her first birthday yesterday. I was hoping she would dig into her cake a little more but she did okay! The cake is my first attempt at decorating and is supposed to be a monkey (I know it looks a little like a bear!). We always call her a monkey so we thought we should do that as her cake. We had some friends over for pizza, cake and ice cream. She didn't really ever get into opening presents so we had to help a lot. She loves all the new toys and dolls and has played with each gift already this morning!

Pumpkin Patch

Camping Trip

So here is my first attempt at blogging! We just went camping this last weekend and had a lot of fun. We went with 3 other families from our ward. Elizabeth did great and only tried to eat a few leaves! She loved being able to be outside so much. We were able to use the cute hat that Lisa sent us a long time ago to keep her nice and warm. There is a nice camping site about 20 to 30 minutes away from our house. There is a great bike trail right by it too. We brought our bikes and went on a ride with Elizabeth and even stopped on the trail for ice cream.
